Where to Stay

Ankh-Morpork has a large range of hospitality options at various price points:

• Private Boarding Houses offer a cost-effective stay, often offering meals.  Recommended are Mrs Marietta Cosmopilite of Quirm Street and Mrs Whelk’s Home-from Home on Treacle Street. Visitors who are members of the undead community are specially catered for by Mrs Cake on Elm Street.
• Private Hotels and Guesthouses are more expensive but offer more amenities.  Some cater only for specific species.  The Park Lane hotel on Park Lane Circus is the largest hotel in the city.  Darling’s on Moon Pond Lane or Gofftrots on Gofftrots Road are more economical.
• Taverns and Inns offer a glimpse of city life along with bed and breakfast. The Dolphin inn on Kaleidoscope Walk has particularly fine views. The Wedge and Boot Inn on New Cobblers/Mincing Street has an architectural quirk that all rooms face hubwards, even those that don’t.

In the Roundworld, the convention will be held in the Cork International Hotel. Some rooms will be held for attendees and there are generally enough rooms to accommodate everybody.  However, if you prefer to stay elsewhere, Cork has many accommodation options, searchable on all good travel websites.

For those looking for budget friendly options Shiela’s Hostel and Bru hostel are both located near one another in the city centre, and they are close to the train and bus stations.

If choosing a B&B nearby so you can walk/roll to the venue, be careful to ensure it is easily navigable.  The area has a busy road that is not pedestrian friendly so ironically staying closer to the venue may make it less easy to get to than staying in the city centre.  There is a Travelodge on the Kinsale Road Roundabout only 3 miles away, but you would need a car or taxi to get back and forth. The other nearby hotel (Cork Airport Hotel) has not yet reopened after COVID closures and there is no indication at time of writing that they will reopen. 

There is a bus service (226) that runs from the city centre to the airport business park (a short walk from the hotel), a journey of approximately 20 mins.  First buses leave from the train station at 05:50 and last buses leave from the airport business park (Amazon) stop at 00:24.  Bus timetables and routes are subject to change so please use the Cork transport site for more up to date information
