Jan Harkin

In the Roundworld, Dr Jan Harkin (nee Clarke) is a retired physician with leadership roles at national level advising the government on major health programmes. In Discworld circles, she is known as “That poor, poor woman”. 

She has been married to Pat for 41 years, although it seems longer.

She once described herself as a single parent with three children, aged 8, 10 and 39. If you don’t believe that, buy her a gin and tonic and ask her about the “Shrinkee-Dink” incident. 

She likes cats. Cats are nice.
